The Rumtopf Pot is traditionally filled with fruit, sugar, and rum, and left to sit for four to six weeks or longer depending on your taste. Additional fruit is added as the growing seasons progress. The result is fruit preserved in a dark, tasty liqueur. Often the fruit and liqueur is served on ice cream, puddings and spice cakes. Rumtopf-literally means rum pot in German. Frequently used around the Christmas Holiday.
